About Alexandro
Alexandro Aguilar is a pianist, composer-arranger, educator, and lifelong student of music whose roots trace back to the small town of Payette, Idaho. What started as a childhood hobby at age 8 has since grown into a deep and multifaceted career in classical and jazz piano, composition, and cultural research.
Currently completing his bachelor's degree in piano performance with a minor in jazz studies at the University of Idaho (Class of 2025), Alexandro brings a versatile and dynamic approach to his work. Whether performing a Debussy prelude, a jazz standard, or one of his own compositions, he strives to tell compelling stories through sound. He’s had the privilege of studying under renowned mentors including Roger McVey, Sam Welsh, Eneida Larti, Dan Bukvich, Kate Skinner, and Ruby Fulton.
Alexandro’s musical journey is shaped not just by performance, but also by education and cultural advocacy. A proud Hispanic musician, he is passionate about amplifying Latin American voices in classical and jazz music. He has presented lectures and performances on Mexican composers at conferences and public venues, and in 2024, he traveled to Mexico City to conduct research on Manuel María Ponce through a grant-funded project with the Ponce Project Music Foundation.
As a former percussionist and producer, Alexandro draws from a wide palette of influences—from marching band snare lines to the textures of Latin jazz—and brings that same creativity into every collaboration. His recent recognitions include honorable mentions from the 2023 Idaho MTNA State Competition (Young Artist Category) and a soloist award at the 2024 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
Above all, Alexandro sees music as a space for connection, education, and joy. Whether he’s behind the piano, in the classroom, or at a conference podium, he brings warmth, curiosity, and heart to every setting.
